Welcome to the website of the Burton Philatelic Society. This is our new site which is still growing and contributions from members are welcome via the webmaster : webmaster@burtphilsoc.org.uk
We meet as a society at 19.30 on the first Tuesday of each month. Our venue is the Burton Library where there is ample parking and a warm welcome. Sometimes our activities are augmented with visits to other societies in the region or through informally arranged trips to stamp fairs around the country.
The history of the society goes back some way. At one time, according to a local newspaper report of 1909, there was a Swadlincote Philatelic Society which included members from Burton. Later there was a Burton and Derby Society though as the society grew and became more Derby centred the 'Burton' was dropped. The current society was re-founded in 1957 and today is supported by a membership of more than twenty enthusiastic collectors. Most meetings have a large attendance and the discussions often continue
